Heal Program

Empowering New American Leaders Through Action

The Heal Program is a wellness initiative created for young adults and youth in the New American Community. We are currently working weekly with young adult Heal Leaders and supporting them as they train to facilitate youth events across the city on topics of mental health and community wellness.

Instead of a classroom—we are engaging leaders actively through wellness in the community. Through a mix of engagement activities such as volunteering, hiking, yoga, and urban gardening, we want to connect Leaders and Youth they work with to healing that happens when we work together in the community and to help the community. We will be exploring important topics for New Americans including –

  • Cultural Identity & Belonging: Navigating life between two cultures.
  • Resilience & Stress Management: Building tools for long-term community wellness.
  • Community Advocacy: Focusing on solutions to wellness and mental health needs of the greater community.
  • Cultural Strength: Focusing on the strengths immigrants bring to the United States from their families and cultural backgrounds.
  • Leadership and Event Organizing: Through actively hosting more than twenty Heal Events.
  • Intergenerational Healing: Bridging the gap of multicultural and mental health conversation in family and friendship relationships.
