BCCO’s Food and Agricultural Program engages newly arrived families and New American farmers through hands-on gardening and produce marketing projects. We provide access to garden plots, market access, workshops, and personalized 1:1 technical assistance on crop production and marketing strategies. These efforts foster community integration, support physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, and promote healthy eating and access to fresh, culturally relevant produce.

Projects and Priorities

• Community Gardening: Newly arrived refugee, SIV, and asylee families who have been in the US for less than 5 years. Participants receive garden plots, skill-building support on growing and selling produce at the market, and opportunities to grow fresh food for their households and community. • Farm Businesses: New American Farmers growing specialty/culturally relevant produce to sell. We assist farmers by connecting them to valuable resources, local market opportunities, workshops, and guidance to help build sustainable small-scale farm businesses.
